Media and Communications Officer (1 year fixed term contract)

??27,000 per annum / 35 hours per week / London

The Parkinson’s Disease Society is the leading UK charity dedicated to supporting all people with Parkinson’s, their families, friends and carers.

About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Media and Communications Officer to work for a fixed term period with the Communications team.

You will play a key role in promoting the charity and its activities, through national, local and specialist health and social care media.

You will assist in the development and implementation of projects and events organised and/or managed by the Communications team.

With a good working knowledge of a wide range of media, you will be able to build and maintain relevant media contacts.

As part of this role, you will also plan, deliver and evaluate media relations activity, helping to grow our media coverage in the healthcare sector and promoting our information and support services.

 Skills, knowledge and experience
You will have proven expertise of working in a busy PR and communications environment, including working with national and online media, and working sensitively with case studies.

You will be able to communicate clearly and assertively with a wide range of people, at all levels of seniority, as well as work with colleagues to achieve communications objectives.

You will be proficient in using media contact databases, such as Gorkana.

The ability to write clear and concise copy for a range of audiences and media, including press releases, media statements and articles, is essential, as is the ability to proof and edit copy.
