Last year marked Kew???s 250th anniversary and 2010 is set to be another exciting year with the implementation of the ???Breathing Planet Programme???. This highlights the role Kew plays in addressing the major environmental challenges facing the world and underpins its wider mission to inspire and deliver science-based plant conversation worldwide, enhancing the quality of life.

Kew magazine is a powerful channel through which we communicate Kew???s purpose and message worldwide, and we are looking for an Editor who can build on its success by driving editorial strategy and vision for the magazine, as well as overseeing the creative development of each issue.

Quality editorial content and direction are paramount, as is the effective management of the editorial and design team, freelance writers, illustrators and photographers, working to strict deadlines and tight budgets. 

You will have a proven editorial track record in magazine publishing, combined with a degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject, such as horticulture, or the plant sciences.
Extensive editorial skills are essential, including commissioning, creative editorial development, writing and sub-editing, as well as the management of editorial workflow at all stages of production. Excellent communication and negotiating skills are required to get the best from our authors. An exceptional command of English and meticulous attention to detail are essential to your success, as is a good working knowledge of industry standard desktop publishing software.

Salary is between ??26,067 and ??35,505 per annum (depending on skills and expertise) and benefits include 30 days holiday per year, a choice of defined benefit or stakeholder pension, a flexible benefits scheme as well as a great working environment.
