About the jobWe’re looking for an experienced press officer to join our busy press office, to plan, create and respond to media interest in the charity’s clinical research portfolio together with its health awareness and prevention campaigns. You’ll write and issue press releases to publicise the charity`s clinical, health awareness and prevention work, as well as organising press conferences, photo calls and other exciting media events. You’ll also receive and respond to media enquiries quickly, providing information to Cancer Research UK spokespeople. You’ll also need to anticipate media calls where possible and ensure spokespeople are available to answer them or a relevant statement is prepared. About you With extensive experience in a press office or as a journalist, you’ll be keen to develop your skills in a thriving press office environment. You will have excellent communication skills – both written and oral, an eye for detail and the ability to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities. A strong communicator, you’ll be able to deal empathetically with sensitive cancer issues.
