New Phytologist, one of the World???s leading plant science journals (ISI Impact Factor  6.033), offers rapid publication of high quality research in plant science. Owned by a not-for-profit organization (The New Phytologist Trust) we are dedicated to the promotion of plant science, facilitating projects from symposia to open access for our Tansley reviews.

We currently have openings fora Deputy Managing Editor and a Development Coordinator to join the innovative New Phytologist team based at Lancaster University. Both posts are funded on a one-year fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave and projects committed to the development of the journal.

You will assist the Managing Editor in the publishing process and in activities related to the journal???s short- to long-term development, deputizing as appropriate. You will have responsibility for the peer review process, be involved in commissioning articles and will contribute to the strategic development of the journal, including future directions in scientific publishing. You will have experience of research in biological science, or a related discipline, have excellent communication skills, and be highly motivated and able to work well in a team. Prior experience in an editorial office is desirable, but not essential; indeed, this offers an excellent opportunity for a scientist wishing to gain experience in scientific publishing at an exciting and innovative time for this industry.
