The Wellcome Trust is a global charity dedicated to achieving extraordinary improvements in human and animal health. We support the brightest minds in biomedical research and the medical humanities. To help achieve our mission, we are currently seeking to appoint a Senior Portfolio Developer to work in our Science Funding division. Reporting to the Head of Molecular and Physiological Sciences, this exciting role involves providing strategic scientific leadership of activities related to the molecular and physiological sciences portfolio of the Trust. The successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively across the organisation to develop and implement scientific strategy and policies aligned to the Trust’s Challenge and Focus areas. The role also involves developing, enhancing and managing defined aspects of the Trust’s funding portfolio as well as building strong and effective relationships with the scientific community. Candidates will have a PhD in the molecular, cellular, or physiology field with post doctoral experience and have a working knowledge of the UK research funding environment. Experience working within a funding organisation would be desirable. In addition you will be able to demonstrate: – evidence of strong leadership, influencing and management skills – the ability to work effectively within a team/matrix structure – the ability to see the ‘big picture’ and to identify scientific potential and opportunities – a proven track record in being able to develop, deliver and implement strategy – evidence of communicating effectively and confidently with individuals and groups. Salary will be in the region of ??40-45 000 per annum depending on experience plus benefits.
