Our Corporate Communications Department now needs a dynamic individual to join its team as a press officer and contribute to our mission of enhancing the University???s reputation and profile.

Working in the press & PR office, you will play a key role in promoting the work and people of the University on a regional, national and international stage using both traditional and new media channels.

You will:
    * Develop news stories in partnership with our research community;
    * Respond to incoming enquiries from the media; and,
    * Support the use of new media in communicating the University???s news including Twitter, Facebook and making research films for You Tube and our website.

You will have a PR or journalism qualification and/or relevant professional experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience of producing press releases, preferably for scientific or technical stories. Knowledge of the higher education sector, writing and publishing for the internet, and experience of social media channels would all be an advantage.

Salary will be ??29,853 p.a.

Closing date for applications will be Wednesday 6th October 2010
