The breast cancer charities (there are three that I know of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign) seem to have an inexhaustible supply of science communication jobs, especially Breakthrough Breast Cancer from whom I’ve captured ~15 jobs in the last year, and that’s not including the readvertised posts.

Job Description
Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a pioneering charity dedicated to the prevention, treatment and ultimate eradication of breast cancer. We fight on three fronts: research, campaigning and education. Our aim is to bring together the best minds and rally the support of all those whose lives have been, or may one day be, affected by the disease. The result will save lives and change futures ??? by removing the fear of breast cancer for good.

 This is a key role to prepare accurate and engaging information about Breakthrough???s research outcomes and impact for use in fundraising applications and reports, in Breakthrough communications and to increase staff awareness of research. You will develop expert knowledge of Breakthrough???s research to support its wider communication. You will have project management experience from a research or scientific environment, and have experience of disseminating research findings.

 A post-graduate degree in a relevant scien
tific discipline is essential and experience in writing both scientific and lay information preferably in a medical or scientific environment would be desirable. You will also play a critical role in working with fundraisers so it is expected that you will be a confident and accomplished communicator with good interpersonal skills.

 In addition to all UK bank holidays, we offer 25 days annual leave plus all working days between Christmas and New Year, a generous pension scheme and an employee discount scheme.
