Centre for Life
Exhibit Builder (2 positions)
he Centre for Life is planning a new hands-on exhibition designed to provoke curiosity and imagination, which is scheduled to open mid 2012. With a new fitted workshop available where the exhibits and their prototypes can be built, we are now looking to appoint two exhibit builders to help design, develop and build the interactive exhibits.
With responsibility for the overall aesthetic and mechanical design of the new exhibition resting with the wider Curiosity Project Team, your role will be to work to the Senior Exhibit Builder in building the exhibits and the detailed design of individual components. We anticipate the team will work in a diverse range of materials including but not limited to wood, metal and plastics. The development process for exhibits is iterative and organic with design and construction interwoven (in contrast to the traditional design-review-build model in some industries).
As a person with sound basic technical skills, the ability to work towards shared goals and able to manage your own time, we welcome hearing from you why your skills and experience could help and be relevant to our project. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be part of a new diverse team.
To apply for this vacancy, please send a letter of application and current CV to Claire Adams, Corporate Services Director, Centre for Life, Times Square, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 4EP or email claire.adams //at// life.org.uk by Friday 29th October 2010. (No agencies please).
