Policy Officer (Tower Hill, London)
Location: Tower Hill, London
Closing Date: 15 Nov 2010
Salary: ??28,170 per annum
Hours: 35 per week

Do you want to drive the development of public policy on dementia?

Dementia is one of the biggest health and social care challenges of this century. There are 750,000 people living with dementia in the UK and this number is set to rise to over one million by 2025.
All of the three main political parties made commitments to dementia in their election manifestos. Now the coalition government has committed to a commission to look at proposals on the care and support system and to increase the priority attached to dementia research.

Having got dementia firmly onto the public policy agenda, Alzheimer’s Society is now seeking to develop our policy resource to ensure that we have the evidence to meet the growing opportunity and is looking to recruit a policy officer.

Reporting to a senior policy officer you would be responsible for contributing to developing evidence on the experience and aspirations of people with dementia and their carers across England , Wales and Northern Ireland.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. An understanding of dementia is desirable for anyone applying for this role but experience working in a policy related role is essential.

If you are interested and would like further information about the post, please contact Louise Lakey, policy manager, for an informal discussion on 0207 423 3581.

Interviews will take place in the week beginning 22 November.
