I’m not sure if Alzheimer’s Society have a lot of Press Officers (entirely possible) or if they have a high turnover of them (also possible) but I think quite similar jobs have come up a few times before – I’d have to check the actual job descriptions to see how they differ. Possibly one or two are duplicate postings from me (again, possible…).
Other than communicating some statistics about Alzheimer’s disease, I would say that this one is not really a science communication job – it’s about working with a company who has, or is hoped to, choose the charity to be its Charity of the Year (COTY). This might not be that fascinating for someone who’s single-minded about charity science communication but given the vast number of science comms jobs that have come up, perhaps a future sideways move is a possibility. Transferable skills etc etc 🙂
