An exciting opportunity to enthuse young people about science!

Catalyst Science Discovery Centre (a registered charity) is the only science discovery centre in the UK with chemistry as its main theme. It has an extensive educational programme for schools and young people from early years to Key Stage 4 and provides a number of taught workshops and activities to the general public.

We are now seeking an education manager with enthusiasm and experience in explaining science to manage, help deliver and develop our award-winning educational programme. A teaching and/or chemistry background would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with an ability to excite people, young and old, about science and technology and in particular chemistry. You will have excellent organisational skills, the ability to ensure Catalyst’s educational offer links to the National Curriculum and the creativity to work with Catalyst’s academic and industry supporters to show the practical applications of science in the real world.

The successful candidate will work 35 hours a week. This can be worked flexibly, though occasional Saturdays would be required (approximately 12 per annum). Benefits include 33 days holiday (including public holidays), the opportunity to join the group pension scheme and an employer’s sick pay scheme.

Salary range: £23k to £26k subject to experience.

To apply: send a CV and covering letter to Meryl Jameson, Catalyst Science Discovery Centre, Mersey Road, Widnes, Cheshire WA8 0DF or email to info@catalyst.org.uk

Deadline 28 November 2011. Successful candidates will be invited to interview week commencing 5 December 2011.
