This is ostensibly a science communication job (presentation of statistical information in a nice way) hidden as a more general information professional job. At least that’s my reading of it 🙂

Salary: 27K-31K per annum, pro rata for 6 months
Closing date: 10 February 2012
Contract: 6 months Fixed Term (commencing 1st March 2012)

Age UK has a vision of a world in which older people flourish. We aim to improve later life for everyone through our information and advice, campaigns, products, training and research.

This is a unique opportunity to work in the new Knowledge Hub, which is responsible for knowledge management in Age UK, on an innovative project. The aim of the project is to make research and statistical data about the older population more accessible. The Research Adviser would be responsible for project-managing and producing a publication and launch event.

We are looking for someone who is innovative and has excellent communication skills with knowledge of using data (via charts, maps and other graphics) to present research data to a wide audience.

The job holder should also have:

  •     Familiarity with statistics, designing charts/ graphs and maps
  •     Project management skills and experience
  •     Networking skills (liaison with wide group of stakeholders)

A postgraduate degree in a relevant subject is essential and experience of working with the media would also be desirable.
