Scientific Communication Manager
Maternity Leave cover
We award grants for research projects of up to three years and are able to support innovative projects into less well-funded areas of cancer research. We are currently supporting 204 projects in 22 different countries at a cost of nearly ??38.5 million.
This 12 month, fixed term post is to cover the maternity leave of the Scientific Communication Manager. The job will give you the opportunity to communicate to scientists and non-scientists on a wide range of materials and with different media. Experience of speaking to and writing for a wide range of people from scientists to fundraisers and members of the public is essential for this post.
You will need a minimum of a PhD in a cancer research field, preferably molecular biology or biochemistry, and at least 2 years relevant experience. You should also have excellent communication skills with a proven ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a wide range of audiences. In addition you must have good attention to detail, and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as being a team player. The ability to proof read and to retrieve information from a variety of sources will also be an advantage.
