Depending on the successful candidate’s home location, the role can be based entirely in the office within the Bristol/Bath area, or from a home office further afield with one-day per week in the office.


 

Candidates must have an HNC/HND/degree or equivalent qualification in a Chemistry subject and a passion for new laboratory technologies and techniques.  The ideal candidate will have laboratory experience in a Chemistry environment and previous experience working on a fast-paced scientific publication is essential.  A high degree of self-motivation, creativity and accuracy would serve this role well as would an inspirational vision for the future of internet marketing and publishing.

The Role

Focussing specifically on Chemistry, the Editor is responsible for managing editorial projects and developing rich and on-topic content for a leading online scientific publication. Travel to international scientific conferences and exhibitions will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop content such as original news stories, video interviewing/production, product reviews and application articles;
  • Manage editorial projects (research, writing plans, project managing and evaluation) and research new technology and application areas;
  • Develop the new editorial webinar program;
  • Contribute towards email newswires, show guides and other services;
  • Build relationships with scientists, manufacturers and agencies, establish an ‘Editorial Board’ and raise the profile of the publication;
  • Work with marketing to develop the membership/subscriber database.

The Candidate

  • Ability to work to deadlines, both individually and as a team member
  • MS Office Suite skills

Relevant Experience

  • Experience of video interviewing, producing webinars
  • Search Engine Optimisation, HTML and photoshop will be advantageous, but training can be provided
  • Demonstrable previous project success
  • Laboratory experience
