It doesn't mention science and isn't a science communication job, but the skills required and the functions performed overlap with many things a science communicator might do so I still think of the job description / person specification as useful 'grist to the mill'.

Communications Officer



Allergy UK, a national medical charity based in Kent has entered a very exciting period of development and growth and need to recruit a creative, bright and resourceful communications officer.


Our new communications officer will increase our profile nationally and increase public awareness of Allergy UK's work. They will be responsible for producing accurate and powerful copy for a use in various methods of communication particularly including the web and social networking media. They will also need to be able to produce eye catching press releases for our initiative weeks and fundraising events.


They will work closely with our IT Director, the Executive Director for Allergy Services, and the Director of Fundraising.


The successful candidate will have experience in this kind of role, preferably working for another charity, but this is not essential.


Salary- Circa ??24,000 dependent on skills and experience. 35 hours per week.
