Vacancy: Project Officer for Public Engagement with Research (University of Aberdeen)
The University of Aberdeen recently secured an RCUK Catalysts Award for Public Engagement with Research (PER). We are seeking a proactive individual with excellent communication, creative and organisational skills to join our PER Unit being established as part of this project.You will help develop, create and coordinate initiatives designed to support and embed quality public engagement across the University, working closely with colleagues and reporting to the Head of Public Engagement with Research. The University aims to be proactive in raising its profile at national events around public engagement, impact and the researcher development agendas. Experience of the UK public engagement arena is therefore an advantage for this exciting role. A track record of public engagement skills, preferably involving research environments, is preferable. Experience of creative and web content design is an advantage as is practical experience of presenting workshops and training related to communication or engagement skills. A willingness to travel would also be advantageous. As this post is funded by RCUK, it will be offered until March 2015 in the first instance. The University is committed to the success of its public engagement with research strategy and is anticipating that efforts in this arena may be sustained beyond the period of RCUK funding. Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 salary scale (£30,122 – £35,938 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
