Arthritis Research UK has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Research Programme Manager based in our Chesterfield office. The successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the charity???s clinical studies portfolio, managing clinical study grant applications received through peer review to ensure effective funding of the studies.?? The role requires the development of effective working relationships with senior clinicians and academics, with clinical trial units and NHS staff.?? Working closely with the Director of Research Programmes and Information, the Medical Director and the chair of the Clinical Studies Subcommittee (CSS) there will be an opportunity to contribute to a range of initiatives and changes within the charity.??

Salary: competitive up to ??34,000 + Benefits
Hours: 35 per week
Position type: Fixed term contract of 12 months

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of managing at least one of:

    • Clinical trials or studies (practical experience of execution of clinical trial activities, commercial or non-commercial)
    • Studies within the health research governance environment and broader infrastructures in the NHS (practical experience of execution of duties in relation to R&D approvals or funding mechanisms)
    • Applications for funding assessment within a competitive grant process (based on understanding by experience within biomedical environment)
  • Authoritative knowledge of principles, specialist work practices and guidelines in at least one of:

    • research governance, ethics and NHS permission
    • department of health funding models in relation to non-commercial UK clinical research
    • medical research funding by competitive peer review
