?????Create media and public interest in the aims of the charity, while deepening the understanding of our scientific work
?????Communicate complex ideas and a wide range of issues surrounding the research, causes, treatments and prevention of cancer
?????Receive and respond to media enquiries quickly, providing accurate information and relevant spokespeople
Our science holds the solution. We work to inspire volunteers, unite the scientific community, educate the public about cancer prevention and tell our story to the government to bring about change. Now we need a Press Officer to write and issue press releases on a wide range of topics including newly published scientific papers, health campaigns, new statistics, clinical trial results and cancer treatments. You will also organise press conferences and other media events and develop and maintain positive working relationships with the charity's medical and scientific staff and associates. You???ll join a press team which regularly works to tight deadlines and you???ll help to maintain its position as the first port of call for journalists working on cancer stories. Communicating Cancer Research UK???s work to the public through all forms of media is vital as our research receives no government funding but relies on public donation.

?????The ability to communicate complex ideas simply, clearly and effectively in plain English
?????The skills needed to work independently and as part of a team in a constantly changing and sometimes pressurised environment
?????Strong organisation skills to manage your own day to day workload while working to tight deadlines
