Policy Manager (maternity cover, 12-month fixed-term contract)
An opportunity to contribute to the delivery of our work during 2013, our Centenary year, has arisen, covering the maternity leave of the Policy Manager from March 2013 for 12-months.The successful applicant will have a good understanding of national science and/or environment policy, along with substantial experience of engaging with policy-makers. Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary, as is a high-level of self-organisation and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience of overseeing events is vital. As part of the Society's 'Festival of Ecology' (15th June – 4th August) the post-holder will be responsible for the successful delivery of a parliamentary reception to launch a briefing document in summer 2013, along with workshops at the BES's high-profile INTECOL academic conference and a public-facing evening debate. Experience of managing staff, either formally or informally, is highly desirable.
