Advice and Information Officer (maternity cover)

The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) is the leading sudden infant death charity, working to support bereaved parents and try to prevent sudden infant death by promoting our research-backed advice. This post is offered as part of our dedicated Support and Development Team, which offers support and advice to bereaved parents, professionals, and anyone caring for a young baby. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience of offering advice or information to join the charity at an exciting time of change, with a communications review currently in place. ??The post is a maternity cover for a fixed term, initially of 6 months but with the possibility of extension.

The main responsibilities will be to cover our telephone helpline service, and to take the lead in replying to requests for safe infant care advice. This will include taking calls from bereaved families, and although full training will be given,?? empathy with bereaved families is essential. ??The role will also include collating information on the work of the department and supporting the team???s administrative needs. Full training on our research-backed advice will be given to the successful candidate, but experience of work in the advice and information areas is essential.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter who is able to develop this post to support the team and improve our information services. As this post is based in our support services, a basic understanding of word, outlook and excel is essential. Written and verbal communication skills must be excellent.
