Applications are invited for the post of Education Officer, with responsibility for schools, to work within a small team in the Garden’s Education Department.

The Schools Officer is responsible for planning, overseeing and developing the Garden’s educational visits programme for schools. The last academic year saw over 400 school visits to the Garden (circa 9,000 school children/students). The Schools Officer facilitates these visits by creating web-based lesson plans and activities for unassisted visits, directly assisting approximately 80 visits annually and training volunteers to assist schools with visits.

This is a demanding post, which requires candidates to have broad experience of working with the public, ideally with school age children, families and volunteers, and the ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the needs and priorities of these audiences.

Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are essential. The Garden is looking for a creative thinker, who is able to translate great ideas into reality, within the confines of small budgets. Good project management, organisational skills and a high level of computer literacy are also essential.
