Description

Are you a highly motivated, creative and experienced PR professional?

We are looking for an innovative individual who has significant experience in working with the regional media to deliver outstanding PR campaigns, with the ability to motivate, persuade and influence people and take both a strategic and ‘hands-on’ approach to campaign planning.

Working in the Regional Press team, you will be at the heart of creative and strategic PR activity which will help Cancer Research UK raise awareness and funds to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.  Reporting to the Senior Regional Press Campaigns Manager, you will take a holistic approach to our programme of PR campaigns and be able to respond flexibly to the charity’s priorities.

Thanks to its effectiveness, the Regional Press team is growing so we’re currently looking to expand by recruiting for this role and also for a Senior Regional Press Campaigns Officer.

Do you have the unusual blend of skills, qualities and enthusiasm needed to:
• Play a vital role in shaping Cancer Research UK regional media activity for a wide range of fundraising and health awareness campaigns, such as Race for Life, Stand Up To Cancer, Dryathlon, Shine London, corporate partnerships and the Little Star Awards
• Generate fresh ideas for regional PR
• Craft compelling copy, conveying complex ideas succinctly
• Devise visually exciting photocall concepts to appeal to the regional media.
• Work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including a team of highly experienced regional press officers
• Design ‘toolkits’ and resources to empower press officers, fundraisers and volunteers across the UK to achieve outstanding media coverage
• Line manage the Senior Regional Press Campaigns Officer
• Oversee media monitoring processes and evaluations for regional PR campaigns

You will be able to see the bigger picture while really focusing on the detail through…

• Your extensive experience of working with the regional media, in an in-house press office, PR agency and/or as a senior journalist
• Your proven track record in PR
• Your excellent project management and organisational skills
• Your excellent communications skills which will enable you to work with a diverse range of stakeholders and geographically dispersed teams
• Your ability to motivate people and deliver results through others
• Your experience of working with media monitoring agencies and producing accurate evaluation reports
