The British Medical Association is the professional association for doctors, a trade union and a key organisation in the promotion of an effective health service in Northern Ireland.

We are seeking to appoint a Public Affairs Officer to lead the Public Affairs team and to enhance and maintain the BMA`s profile in Northern Ireland with the media, political structures, the public and various agencies. This is a senior role within BMA(NI) and attracts a competitive salary. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will start in August or September 2013.

Our approach to public affairs demands sound knowledge of the issues facing the health service and the medical profession in Northern Ireland, as well as an active interest in Northern Ireland politics, and an in-depth knowledge of policy developments within the health service.

Applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent. Experience in a relevant area such as journalism, public affairs, public relations, marketing, political or policy work is essential. Management experience would be advantageous.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 03 June 2013.
