Events and Communications Manager
The Linnean Society’s purpose as a living forum for biology is to communicate scientific ideas and advances, embracing the entire sweep of natural history, but focusing on themes such as biological diversity, evolution, taxonomy, science policy, the history of biology and conservation.
The Society works through a network of partnerships in the scientific and education community, collaborating with government and international institutions and schools to highlight the urgency and magnitude of the task of understanding the natural world.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative individual for the role of Events and Communications Manager (joining the small team based in Burlington House, Piccadilly, London), who will be responsible for co-ordinating the Society’s varied programme of day and evening events, managing the Society’s website and interacting with our diverse Fellowship and the general public. The role will require the use of a variety of communications tools.
A particular focus for this position will be to develop the Society’s website and marketing materials, with a view to helping the Society build the Fellowship, widen participation in events and increase awareness of the organisation. There will also be the opportunity to become involved in the Society’s education initiatives, developing educational resources.
You will preferably be a science graduate with a flair for design and a passion for natural history. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with proven organisational and administrative capacities, and be able quickly and confidently to develop collaborative working relationships, both within the Society and with external partners. Your creative skills should be underpinned by experience of using InDesign and Photoshop. Skills should include experience of website CMS and WordPress systems and filming and editing podcasts of events using Final Cut or equivalent.
Please send your CV, together with a covering letter to the Executive Secretary, Dr Elizabeth Rollinson firstname.lastname@example.org by 24th August. Interviews will be held Wednesday 2nd September.
