A fixed term opportunity is available in our award-winning External Affairs team for a skilled PR Officer. This is a busy and varied role promoting our exhibitions, events and research to media and stakeholders, contributing to the Museum’s purpose to challenge the way people think about the natural world.
You will be delivering and evaluating high impact PR campaigns that contribute to fundraising objectives and enhance the profile and reputation of the Museum.. You will maintain an awareness of the news agenda and understand how to best reach target audiences through a mix of channels to develop and nurture excellent relationships, particularly with journalists. With proven copywriting skills you will be drafting press releases, statements, blogs and speeches, as well as responding to media enquiries on tight deadlines.
To be successful in this role you will be educated to a degree level or equivalent, with CIPR accredited qualifications or a willingness to learn. You have a track record of delivering ambitious PR campaigns, shaping stories for maximum influence. You must have experience of reactive media relations and enjoy working as part of a dynamic team. You apply your resourcefulness and creative thinking in your work and are adept at expressing complex ideas in a compelling way for non-specialists. You show great judgement even under pressure and are also experienced in identifying and managing reputational risks and opportunities.
Please note that the postholder will form part of the out-of-hours cover via the 24/7 Press Office duty rota.
