If you’re an Early Career Researcher (ECR) in a STEM subject and can get to either Dublin or Manchester there are two FREE one-day workshops on public engagement / scicomm.
The text below was pinched/adapted from a post sent to the psci-com mailing list.
“Sense about Science is delighted to announce that applications are open for
two ‘Standing up for Science’ workshops. We’d love to be joined by lots of
early career researchers in Dublin on 22 March and in Manchester
on 29 March.
This free workshop is aimed at early career researchers in all social
sciences and STEM fields (PhDs, post-docs or equivalent welcome). At these
day-long events, participants get the chance to hear directly from and ask
questions of: researchers with experience in public engagement, science
journalists, and policymakers. It is an opportunity to learn how the media
works, how evidence can inform policy, what journalists and policymakers
want and need from researchers, and how to involve the public in
communicating your research.”
